EDUCATION SERVICES, namely, providing a wide range of educational and practical field training in the scientific understanding and methodology of polar and mountain environments; pursuing geoscience systems research, including glacio-climatic research; monitoring glacier sensitivities to global climate change; enlarging and enhancing the cadre of earth system scientists and teachers in the interest of the United States and cooperating nations; stimulating cross-discipline interaction among international students and scientists engaged in all aspects of glacier and field environmental research; encouraging individual character development and teamwork in a physically demanding and intellectually stimulating environment; and teaching, training, and inspiring the scientific leaders of tomorrow
