The mark consists of a silhouette of a person sitting in a bidarka which is pointed downward and to the left at a slight angle, with the person wearing a traditional Chugach headdress with three feathers depicted on the right and a pointed front piece on the left, with the left hand of the person holding a leftward facing fishing spear overhead and the right hand extended for balance; a partial circle representing the sun surrounds the person and all but the right edge of the fishing spear with the edges of the circle intercepting the bidarka fore and aft of the person; and the word "Chugach" centered below the bidarka.
