The mark consists of The mark consists of two Japanese kanji characters in a staggered offset placement. The top kanji reads "ni" and the bottom reads "hon". The mark reads nihon, which means Japan in Japanese. The far right vertical stroke of the top kanji is connected to the center vertical stroke of the bottom kanji. The bottom horizontal stroke of the top kanji is connected to the top horizontal stroke of the bottom kanji. The bottom kanji has three serif style markings. The first serif style marking is located on the top horizontal stroke of the bottom kanji on the far right end of the stroke. The last two serif style markings are located on the ends of the curved strokes stemming out of the intersection of the top horizontal stroke and center vertical stroke of the bottom kanji.
