The bottom of the left stem of the H, which curves right and extends into a fish hook, serves as the center of the ampersand. The end of the bowl of the ampersand resembles an arrow. The A intersects the bowl of the ampersand at two points so that the bar of the A is part of the bowl of the ampersand. The bottom of the left and right stems of A and the top of the A (where the stems of the A meet) resemble the ends of columns. On the right stem of the A, where the A intersects with the bowl of the ampersand, there is a small portion of the stem missing. The missing portion creates a small, triangular space.
