A head device worn by the patient to enable various technical accessory functions during laser eye surgery. The head device is integrated with laser hardware to implement various accessory functions such as plume evacuation, bio-feedback systems, communications control, and head stabilization with at least 5 degrees of freedom. The head device also provides a physical barrier between patient and doctor, which reduces the chance of transmission of disease. The head device aligns the patient with the laser related hardware to assist surgical accuracy, is detachable, adjustable and provides head stabilization. The head device contains a negative pressure vacuum and collector device that removes unwanted gases and particulate matter from the air surrounding the surgical site. The head device allows a plume evacuation collector close to the eye in such a way that it does not interfere with the treatment. The head device can be integrated into a headrest of a surgery chair. The head device can include a removeable contact shield. The helmet device provides plume control on GUI screen.
