The mark consists of a black shield containing the wording "MIDWEST FINEST BASKETBALL" where the word "MIDWEST" appears in white in smaller letters above the letters "FIN" in the word "FINEST". "FINEST" appears in red, outlined in white and is the largest letters in the shield, and the word "BASKETBALL", whose letters are smaller than "FINEST" and slightly larger than "MIDWEST", appears in white below the letters "INEST" in the word "FINEST". There is a red diagonal band extending below the letter "F" in the word "FINEST", wider at the beginning left-hand side, gradually getting smaller on the right-hand side, as it fades out beneath the letters "BASKE" in the word "BASKETBALL". There are four white stars below the letters "TBALL" in the word "BASKETBALL", each star slightly increasing in size from the star preceding it, left-to-right. There is an orange partial basketball with black seams in the bottom portion of the shield with a red band in a slightly distorted shape of a "V" encompassing the partial basketball. To the right of the right-hand side of the distorted "V" and to the left of the edge of the shield, is a white curved band placed vertically on the shield, thin at the bottom end widening out slightly at the top, finishing past the four stars and to the right of the last "L" in the word "BASKETBALL".
