A GATHERING OF THE TRIBES Inc. A GATHERING OF THE TRIBES was registered with the city, state and federal government in the fall of 1991 as a non profit art and cultural oroginzation (501c3). Initially it has published a literally magazine that was published twice a year and later once a year, for well over 25 years. Over the last 25 years tribes has also had an art gallery, and held art exhibitions 10 times a year,this included group exhibitions and individual exhibitions. Tribes also publishes books of poetry, from 1993 to present. And continues to do so even now. The number of poetry book tribes published was one or two a year, at most three. We continue the publish up to now. Tribes also had poetry readings at least 20 times a year- every other Sunday afternoon. Tribes also celebrated Charlie Parker's birthday once a year for the entire month of August for 25years. During the month of August for Charlie Parker's birthday, Tribes would have artists to place art on the wall, have at least 10 -15 poets reading their poetry in the garden- as well as have different musicians perform on the weekend during the month of August. Because of its numerous activities, as listed above. Tribes has gained a national audience all over the world and has been written up numerous times in music art and poetry magazines. Presently - A GATHERING OF THE TRIBES is no longer presenting art shows, hosting poetry readings and musical events. A GATHERING OF THE TRIBES has turned the website (www.tribes.org) into an online magazine. The online magazine publishes poetry, fiction, essays, and critical reviews. The only people paid are those who contribute essays and critical reviews. The poets and fiction writers are not paid. All submissions on the website are copy written by the writers and not Tribes
