The mark consists of an orange-rimmed circle partly hidden by a wide orange ribbon with the word "NORD" in white on it in the upper left quadrant and on the outside of the circle; the orange-rimmed circle is also partly hidden by a medium blue ribbon extending out of the circle from left to right transversing the entire lower part of the circle with the words "Rare Summit" in white and also a small part outside the circle on the right; the inner part of the circle at midpoint, in dark blue, is a silhouette view of various DC monuments from left to right (Lincoln Memorial, U.S. Capitol building, the White House and the Washington Monument); in the upper part of the circle not hidden by the orange ribbon is a light blue background, with approximately ten medium blue representations in whole or in part of genes and one representation of a gene in orange in the upper right quadrant to the right of the Capitol Dome; the inner part of the circle below the medium blue ribbon is a plain light blue background.
