The mark consists of a series of concentric circles consisting of a black outline for the outermost circle, followed by a yellow lined circle, then a white lined circle, followed by a thick black circle with "CLINCHFIELD" appearing in yellow on the upper half of the thick black circle and "RAILROAD" appearing in yellow on the bottom half of the thick black circle. Following the thick black circle is another white lined circle, then a black lined circle, followed by a shaded white circle for the center of the design. Running horizontally through the center of the concentric circles is a locomotive with an engine at both the left and right ends. The engine is shaded in white with black outlining. The wording "CLINCH" appears on the left engine inside a white rectangle on the side of the train, and the wording "FIELD" appears on the right engine inside a white rectangle on the side of the train. Both "CLINCH" and "FIELD" appear in black. The two engines are connected by a large white rectangular shape with the wording "QUICK SERVICE SHORT ROUTE BETWEEN THE CENTRAL WEST & SOUTHEAST" in the color black. Between the words "SERVICE" and "SHORT" appears a black dot.
