The mark consists of a wine label with the word "RIEBEEKSRIVIER" above the word "SWARTLAND" above the word "CAROLINE" presented in stylized script in the center. The background on the label depicts a watermark image with a waterway with various boats and Table Mountain beyond the boats. The phrase ''CAPE OF GOOD HOPE'' is in a banner set across the top of an inset square above a triangle framing a woman sitting on a rock. Inside the triangle, are the words "POSTAGE" on the left side, "ONE SHILLING" on the right side, and "CAPE OF GOOD HOPE" along the bottom side. There is a mantelpiece below the word "CAROLINE" and ornate framing around the edge around the label. Above the mantelpiece, is a stylized seal containing a bird design above the letters "AR", all surrounded by an angular decorative border. The rectangular shape of the label which is shown in dotted lines is not claimed as a feature of the mark.
