The mark consist of both a literal feature and a design feature. The literal element contains the letters "G", "S", and "K" all capitalized block letters and are found centered in the foreground of the mark. The design feature contains a number of elements. Within the block letters are zig-zag lines that appear from left to right in specific places. The lines give the letters the appearance of being shattered. In the background of the block letters is a solid silhouette of the state of California. The state is placed just left-of-center in the mark behind the literal element. Finally, there is a semi-circle that begins in the center of the top of the state silhouette and continues in an arc ending in the depression of the southeast portion of the state silhouette. The line is a solid line and traces an arc from west to east, and north to south touching both the top and near-bottom of the state.
