The mark consists of a large outer circle with the words "MESA COUNTY SHERIFF'S OFFICE" in capital letters wrapping around the top portion of the outer circle and the word "COLORADO" in capital letters on the lower portion of the outer circle. The outer circle also contains a small solid five-pointed star at either side of the word "COLORADO". The next circle (working toward the center) is filled by a seven-pointed star with a decorative swirl designs in each of the seven points. The third circle is located inside the seven-pointed star and contains the words "MESA COUNTY" in capital letters wrapping around the upper portion of the third circle and the words "EST. 1883" on the lower portion of the third circle. There are three small solid five pointed stars located at either side of the words "EST. 1883". The innermost circle contains a depiction of three landmark features of the Mesa County landscape: the Grand Mesa, Book Cliffs and Colorado National Monument.
