The mark consists of a design of a shield-shaped crest containing wording and other designs. The top of the crest features a stylized Latin cross formed by the outside border of the crest. The wording "CARITAS CHRISTI URGET NOS" appears just inside of the border around the sides and top. The wording "ALEXIAN BROTHERS" appears just inside the border at the bottom of the crest. In the center field of the crest, which is set off by an inner border inside the wording, there are several designs in front of a background that is divided into dark on the left and light on the right. A design of a large pelican-like bird appears with dark outlines at the top center portion of the inner field. A design of crossed shovels appears in light shading in the lower left portion of the inner field, on the dark background. A design of a dove-like bird holding a ring in its beak appears in dark shading in the lower right portion of the inner field, on the light background; the words "ALEXIAN BROTHERS" in all capital letters with "ALEXIAN" in a larger font above "BROTHERS" ending above the "T" and the "X" in "ALEXIAN" has its lower right leg growing thicker than the rest of the word as it extends down below the other letters, then turns at a 175 degree angle and extends in a thin line to underline the word "BROTHERS". "WOMEN & CHILDREN'S HOSPITAL" appears in a smaller font under "ALEXIAN BROTHERS"; there is a design appearing to the right of the "N" in "ALEXIAN" and above the "HERS" in "BROTHERS" that consists of four elements: a larger oval suggesting the head of a woman, with two ellipses extending below the oval to suggest the arms of a woman embracing a child, which is represented by a smaller oval appearing within the ellipses and under the larger oval.
