The mark consists of the wording "CONSORTIUM" appearing in all CAPS, with a solid circle in the center of the "O" of "CONSORTIUM", and a line piercing the top left of the "O" at approximately the 10 o'clock position, exiting from the lower right of the "O", at approximately the 4 o'clock position. Above the word "CONSORTIUM" is a large circle with two semi-circles between the circle and the word "CONSORTIUM". The semi-circle appearing directly beneath the circle extends on each side approximately to the 3 o'clock and 9 o'clock positions adjacent to the circle, has flattened ends on which appear to the left, a chess piece bishop, and to the right, a chess piece castle. Under this semi-circle is a second semi-circle, less thick, that flows gently to the left and right below the ends of the semi-circle above it. Above the circle, centered, is a chess piece knight. Inside the circle is an abstract pattern made from six equal size interlocking circles all hinged together at the very center of the circle.
