The mark consists of a stylized curvilinear "E" over the words "EMPORIA STATE UNIVERSITY", with the middle extension of the "E" extended to the right to a point near the proximity of the top and bottom portions of the letter. These extensions extend downward and upward respectively. All three points come together in the same proximity; the interior of the "E" is substantially one color, black, and is outlined first in a narrow gold band.
