"BIG SUR"
Description of Mark
The mark consists of the stylized, black lettering "BIG SUR VOLUNTEER" printed in a convex arc above an image. The image consists of a stylized, red, 19th-century horse-drawn fire engine. The engine consists of a stylized wagon with four black-outlined, red, spoked wheels joined in pairs by axles. (The rear wheel in the background is mostly obscured and appears in black.) A stylized bench seat rests on the front of the wagon. Both the seat and wagon body are red with black outlining but are marred by stylized white smudges resembling the glow cast by a fire. A stylized black-outlined red lantern with a white beam sits on the left side of the bench seat. The stylized figure of a fireman wearing a stylized, black-outlined, red fireman's hat sits on the right side of the bench seat and grasps black reins connected to two stylized, leaping horses. Both the horses and the seated fireman are drawn in black but are marked with white smudges resembling the glow of a fire. A large, stylized, bottle-shaped water tank sits in the rear bed of the wagon beside a stylized spool of hose and spoked-wheel valve. The upper part of the tank is black but is marred by stylized white smudges resembling the glow cast by a fire. The lower part of the tank and the valve are red, but the lower part of the tank is marked with black and white smudges resembling, respectively, shadows and the glow cast by a fire. The upper body, head, and black-outlined red hat of a second, stylized fireman figure appear at the back of the wagon, behind the tank and just above the back left wheel. The second fireman's body is drawn in black but is marked by white smudges resembling the glow of a fire. The stylized, black lettering "FIRE BRIGADE" appears in a concave arc below the image. The two arcs of lettering are approximately equidistant from the image. All of the forgoing elements of the mark are set against a transparent background.
