The mark consists of Colored in a bright red from the center of the contours of the head our cardinal gradually darkens into the outline of the head. This is caused by an effect of and inner shadow of the outline since it is on a layer of its own. This in turn gives the viewer a sense of depth. The beak of the cardinal is done the same way with the exception that the center starts with a shaded line to give the appearance of a upper and lower beak. The line though is not marked but graduated from a dark orange almost brown into a bright yellow-orange. This gives a shading effect and gives depth as well. This prevents the line from looking like a line and prevents the art from looking like a cartoon and more realistic. The outline of the cardinal head also marks the beard and black feathers around the eye of the cardinal. This is done in a style known as tribal art to give the cardinal a more aggressive and modern look.
