The mark consists of a coat of arms consisting of a shield divided into four quadrants with a diagonal red slash from the top left-hand corner to the bottom right-hand corner, with a gray star at either end of the red slash. In the very middle of the larger shield, at the intersection of the red slash and the four quadrants, is black-bordered white shield featuring a black lion rising on its hind legs. The upper left and lower right quadrants of the main shield are solid black. The lower left and upper right quadrants are light gray with darker gray vertical lines spaced evenly across the field. In the lower left quadrant is a white cross with a red cross on either side set slightly lower. There are three black interlocking ovals below the crosses, with light red rays proceeding from each ring and through each cross, expanding toward the edge of the field. In the upper right quadrant there is a white open book with a white stylized quill pen running across it at an angle, down from right to left. Underneath the main shield is a scrolled light gray banner with the words Phi Sigma Lambda in black and the year "2005" in black divided on either half of the wording, with "20" preceding "Phi Sigma Lambda" and "05" following.
